BEIJING CITY STAY
4 days/3 nights

China’s capital city offers a tremendous concentration of ancient and historic artifacts and edifices. The Imperial Palace, or "Forbidden City", as it is called, is a huge walled complex adjacent to the massive Tien’anmen Square in the very center of the city and houses a spectacular collection of treasures. The delicately crafted Temple of Heaven provides an exquisite example of feng shui (geomancy, a high art in old and new China). The Summer Palace is a lovely remnant from the days of the deliciously infamous Empress Dowager Cixi. Of course there is the Great Wall. The Wall extends from China’s East Coast, thousands of miles to the country’s center, trickling into the desert sands of Gansu Province.

Day 1:  Arrive Beijing and transfer to your hotel.
Day 2:  Tour of the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven
The Forbidden City, also known as the Imperial Palace Museum, served as the palace for the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is the largest existing ancient architectural structure in China today. It was at this palace, where 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties over a period of 500 years ascended to the throne and ruled. It has the largest collection of Chinese cultural relics and art objects on display in China. The Temple of Heaven is the largest temple in China and was the place where the Ming and Qing emperors went to worship and pray for a good harvest.

GREAT WALL AND MING TOMBS
The Great Wall of China is the most ancient and the longest structure ever erected by man. First built during the 5th century B.C. and reinforced by the Emperor Qin Shi Huang in the 2nd century B.C. The Wall begins in the east at Shanhaiguan Pass and ends in the West at Jiayuguan Pass stretching some 6,000 kilometers. It is the only man-made structure that can be seen from the moon. Construction began on the Ming Tombs in 1409 and ended 235 years later. These are the burial places of 13 of the 16 Ming Dynasty Emperors.
